FAQ

Q: What does “genki” mean and how is Genki HomeCare different from other home care services?

A: The word “genki” in Japanese means energy, spirit, and well-being, something that we strive to provide each of our clients. Unlike many of our competitors, each caregiver is selected through a rigorous interview process and are given training from experts in the field. This ensures that Genki HomeCare can provide the highest quality home care services possible.

Q: Can Genki HomeCare provide transportation to the Japanese supermarket or doctor’s appointments?

A: Yes, we can provide transportation services during the client’s scheduled hours. A minimum of one 4-hour visit per week is required.

Q: Can Genki HomeCare provide just housecleaning without the other services?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot provide housekeeping exclusively per the requirements of our State of California Home Care Organization (HMO) license. Caregivers can help with housekeeping chores as long as other personal care is provided.

Q: I have Long Term Care Insurance. Can I use this insurance to pay for this home care service?

A: Long term care insurance companies base benefit eligibility on the client’s Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Our Genki HomeCare coordinator can talk to you about the type & level of care you need, but you will need to contact your insurance provider to find out their specific criteria.

Q: I wish to receive personal care service, but my income is limited to Social Security. Can I use Medicare or Medicaid?

A: Unfortunately, the services that Genki HomeCare provides are non-medical, and therefore, Medicare and Medicaid cannot be used for our services.

Q: Is it possible to temporarily stop the service?

A: Yes, but you must notify the Genki HomeCare office (by phone, text, or email) at least 24 hours before your scheduled visit or you will be charged for the entire visit.

Q: My mother-in-law is extremely picky when it comes to caregivers. She had difficulties with caregivers from another organization. Could we meet several caregivers before we commit to the service?

A: Careful caregiver selection is done by our coordinator based on the client’s needs, location, and days/hours requested. Our coordinator will offer you a caregiver whose experience, personality, and availability best matches yours. We don’t, per say, provide you with several caregivers to interview, however, our selection process takes into consideration all the important factors and it has worked well for Genki HomeCare. Our highest priority is a good client-caregiver relationship and client satisfaction, so we will work hard to earn your trust.
